OPA Middle School wrapped up its first quarter of instruction on October 11, 2024, with successes across all subjects and areas.
In our STEM Exploratory Course, students collaborated on a culminating project that explored the qualities and applications of electromagnets. They used the design process to construct an electromagnet using wire and a battery.
They then constructed a moving crane that incorporated the electromagnet and could pick up paperclips.
Finally, they presented to guest students and staff and spoke about the components of their final product, any challenges they faced, and how they overcame them.
