OPA-SV earned a gold award and OPA-SOC earned a silver award!

Congratulations to both schools for being named a California Distinguished School for 2023!

We are xtremely excited to announce that both OPA-South Orange County and OPA-Saddleback Valley scored higher overall in ELA, Math, and Science than any other Orange County district!!!

Last night at the Orange County Board of Education meeting, the OPA - Middle School petition was unanimously approved with no conditions for a term of five years. I am so grateful for all of the support from our OPA community. This is an extremely exciting step forward for OPA, and it will provide many new opportunities for our middle school and elementary champions.

Oxford Preparatory Academy takes all parent concerns very seriously and works hard to address any issue immediately. We also never want to give the perception that we are doing things that may make our community uncomfortable, like teaching CRT or promoting particular political views.

The Orange County Department of Education is recommending that the Orange County Board of Education unconditionally approve the OPA-Middle School charter petition for a term of five years. The official vote on the charter petition will be held on October 5, 2022, at the Orange County Department of Education. I encourage all OPA families to come out to support the approval!! The meeting starts at 5:00 PM.

Saddleback Valley USD held a Public Hearing on May 12, 2022, to solicit comments regarding our charter petition. OPA professors, students, parents, and our Board Secretary spoke out regarding their support for the petition.

I am very excited to announce that both OPA - Saddleback Valley and OPA - South Orange County were selected to receive the 2022 California Pivotal Practice (CAPP) Award. Yesterday, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, announced the recipients of the Award, which was given to only 727 California schools. “I’m incredibly proud of these schools and districts for their creativity, dedication, and innovation in the face of adversity,” Thurmond said. “These schools led incredible efforts to engage students, distribute technology, provide meals, and support the social and emotional well-being of students during an incredibly difficult time for schools and families.”

It is with great excitement that we announce the 7-Year Charter Renewal for OPA-Saddleback Valley!! This is an amazing accomplishment, and it appears OPA-SV is the first in the state to receive this incredible honor!

Only schools designated by the California Department of Education as High Performing are eligible to receive a 7-year renewal. December 2nd, at the Orange County Board of Education meeting, the OCBE voted to renew the OPA-SV charter through 2028.
