Program Goals
The goals of the World Language program are to provide our Champions with the opportunity to learn about other languages and cultures and to develop proficiency in a language other than English. As students progress in oral language comprehension, reading, and writing skills are introduced.
Our Champions begin their introductions by focusing on the four key areas of foreign language study: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
Each unit consists of a new vocabulary theme and grammar concept, reading and listening comprehension activities, speaking and writing activities, multimedia presentations, and activities. There is a strong emphasis on correct pronunciation, providing context and conversational examples for the language concepts presented in each unit.
We believe our Champions can learn at the same time they are playing and having fun. We encourage healthy competition among the students by incorporating games and encouraging students to participate in either Spanish or Mandarin. This promotes higher productivity of the students and allows them to achieve the learning objectives effectively.
This program is an engaging way to help students take control of their own learning by using different online resources like PearDeck, Kahoot, Blooket, etc. The ultimate goal of the curriculum is to facilitate the growth of the students' communication level in Spanish and/or Mandarin.
